Conservators
are sometimes overlooked as heritage professionals as so much of their work is
carried out behind the scenes, but actually they can have a huge impact on the
content and the quality of a collection. This poster focuses particularly on the
values attached to artist’s intent versus the artwork’s biography, how their
cultural importance has shifted over time, and how approaches may differ between
individual conservators.
This post refers to coursework done for ARCLG141 (2015-16), one of the core courses of the UCL MA Principles of Conservation.
As part of their assessed work for this course, students were asked to design and produce a poster communicating specific aspects of conservation. We hope you enjoy our work! Comments are most welcome.
