A deity of the Longevity pottery figure

This is a deity of longevity potter figurine in Chinese culture, and it is produced by mold making in around the late 1980s. This figurine height 27.1 cm and width 15.2 cm.  The main body is sculpted by a clay named pottery sand (Dawu) and the skin part adopts red clay from Shiwan for its color after firing due to high iron content.  It is colored by different types of glaze while the skin part remains unglazed to mimic human skin color tone. Glazes that are used in this figurine are possible from the local area, and they use natural mineral resources to color glazes. Potter uses brush paint glazes carefully to the unfired clay sculpture and air dry for one to two days. The firing step will be finished in dragon kiln and it takes a total of four days including a day for cooling down. All the sculptures would be placed in a pottery pot with another pot cover on top. The firing degree is around 1000-1200°C, and the figurine normally would be placed in the center of the kiln for better temperature control. After that, the object is ready to put on the market.
