“Why should I care about posterity? What has it ever done for me?” Groucho Marx

By T. Mundy

Abstract: Posterity affects various factors so it is easy to not care about all future generations when we are preoccupied by our own ephemeral existence. Every decision we make is regarding the future is building on what we have and what came before by learning from the past. As conservators, it is our socio-cultural responsibility to focus on the success of our cultural assets bringing everything together and ensuring that our mark and those who came before are not lost from those who will be.

Target Audience: A museum conference with a mixture of people within the cultural sector.
